You will need 1 pound dried pinto beans, 8 cups of water, 1 12-ounce can of Coca Cola, 1 14 1/2 ounce whole tomatoes, 1 chopped large onion, 4 slices of thick-sliced bacon, 1/2 cup barbecue sauce, 3 tablespoons of Chile powder, 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce, 4 fresh jalapenos, 4 garlic cloves, 1 tablespoon ground cumin, 1 teaspoon ground black pepper and 1 teaspoon salt. Get a heavy stock pot or a Dutch oven and combine all the ingredients except for the salt and pepper. Place it on high amount of heat and bring it to a rapid boil. When it boils, reduce the heat and let it simmer. Cook it slowly and stir up the beans regularly to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pot. Add more water when the pot begins to dry. Add the pepper and salt during the last few minutes. Place it in a bowl and serve it warm. |
